Italwings Travel Services invite you to discover the magic of Italian food and wine on a
Langhe Region Gourmet Tour

The Piedmont region in northern Italy is known across the world for its cuisine. It is home to the Slow Food® movement, whose birth was celebrated in Barolo in the Langhe district of the province of Cuneo in 1986. The movement was founded by connoisseurs of good food, in response to the growing global trend towards fast food.

Piedmont’s reputation for gastronomy is founded on the tenets of traditional cooking. Here, the belief is that food is enjoyed to the full when it is prepared with care and attention, and eaten slowly. With careful preparation, unforgettable flavours are guaranteed.

The Langhe is located in southern Piedmont. This beautiful district is famous for its castles, which are highlights of this enchanting landscape. A large variety of wines are produced here, so it is definitely a land to be tasted! Well-known names like Barolo and Barbaresco are among Italy’s most renowned wines. Other wine labels include Dolcetto, Barbera, Gavi, Moscato and Arnies, which are equally good.

Alba is the most eminent town in the Langhe, thanks to its gift from Mother Nature: the White Alba Truffle. This precious tuber grows on Alba’s hills between September and December and adds a delicate flavour to the most sophisticated meals: Agnolotti al plin, Tagliolini
(or Tajarin, as it’s known locally), braised meat, game, bagna caoda and bollito.
